The SUDC Foundation knows that a sudden death of a child profoundly affects the professionals involved.
Contact us for guidance and support with:
The care of and communication with families experiencing a sudden pediatric death.
The SUDC Foundation can act as a liaison between the family and your office. We can provide bereavement support through our clinical social worker and assist the families with navigating the investigation while maintaining realistic expectations. To begin this process, please use the
"Contact Us"
form.
Providing resources to the families you serve.
To assist medical examiners and coroners’ offices during the investigation of all sudden pediatric deaths, the SUDC Foundation created the brochure “Help for Families When an Infant or Young Child Dies.” The brochure explains the death investigation process, the professionals involved, and bereavement services. It can be customized to meet the needs of your office.
DNA banking.
The SUDC Foundation advocates for and supports DNA banking after the sudden death of a child to support genetic testing if recommended in the future. The Foundation can provide financial and logistical support to your office to attain DNA banking for families who wish to pursue it.
Information on SUDC.
The SUDC Foundation has a wealth of resources including downloadable fact sheets, and newsletters as well as our website, e-news and social media platforms that provide current and accurate Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood.
Multidisciplinary experts on SUDC.
The SUDC Foundation has a team of forensic pathologists, clinicians and researchers who serve on its Scientific Advisory Board who can assist professionals with cases of sudden death in children. This includes, but is not limited to, guidance for classification, autopsy and death scene investigation guidelines.
